El comienzo de un nuevo significa nuevas metas. Igual que todos los añosmis nuevos objetivos son los mismos del año anterior, pero con algún otro tan importante como lo fueron los anteriores.
De modo que pueden correr la misma suerte . O tal vez no.

Starting a new year means new targets. As every year my new objectives are the same of last year, but with some other as important as were the oldest.
So that they could suffer the same fate. Or maybe not.

Paisaje de Sigüenza/ landscape of Sigüenza

He pintado este paisaje de Sigüenza después de algunos día de haber estado allí. Mi intención fue pintar al aire libre con Jaime Dominguez y Blanca, y realmente hice un paisaje espantoso que naturalmente no voy enseñar a nadie.
Traté de seguir los consejos de Jaime y tomé una foto para después hacerlo en casa. He cambiado la orientación de la luz y he puesto una chimenea echando humo.

Sin embargo Jaime hizo esta acuarela "plein air". Espero que la ponga en su futuro blog. Este es el blog de Jaime y Blanca sobre su viaje a Islandia- que por cierto en inglés es Iceland, tierra del hielo.

I painted this landscape of Sigüenza after some days ago having been there. My intention was to paint outside in Sigüenza with Jaime Dominguez and Blanca, and certainly I did an horrible landscape that of course I don't want to show anybody.
I tried to go on the advices of Jaime and I took a photo, and I did it at home. I changed the orientation of the light and I also included a house with a smoky chimeney.

However, Jaime did this watercolor "plein air". I hope when they come back, Jaime it shows on your future blog. This is theirs blog about the trip to Iceland.

El molino de Alcuneza/ The Hotel Molino de Alcuneza

El otro día fuimos al hotel de Blanca, el Molino de Alcuneza. Después de una magnífica comida en la que mi esposa preguntó por todas las recetas de Blanca y mientras mi esposa se bañaba en la piscina , yo pinté desde la ventana de mi habitación esta acuarela. También hice fotos del jardín que espero convertir en alguna acuarela.

También visitamos una interesante mina abandonada de sal, haciendo un montón de fotos.

Al día siguiente pintamos en la ciudad medieval de Sigüenza. Jaime hizo una estupenda acuarela que podré en un próximo post, mientras que la mia quedo horrible, de modo que tomé una foto y ya veré si puedo hacerla.

The other day we went to Molino deAlcuneza, the Hotel of Blanca. After a great meal in which my wife asked for all recipes of Blanca, and while my wife was bathing in the pool I painted this watercolor from the window of my room. I also took pictures of the garden and I hope make some watercolors.

We also visited a very interesting abandoned salt mine, taking lots of photos.

The next day we painted in the medieval town of Sigüenza. Jaime did a wonderful watercolor that I'll put it in the next post. My painting was horible, so I took a photo and I'll see if I can do.

Curso de acuarela en Caminha,Portugal/ Watercolor workshop in Caminha, Portugal

Todavía permanecen en mi retina las imágenes del curso de acuarela en Caminha. FranciscoCastro realizó unas demostraciones que nos hacían creer que la acuarela es una técnica sencilla por la facilidad y soltura con que ejecutaba su obra. Me desconcertaba como obtenía la armonía de colores y acertaba con el valor del color sin aparente esfuerzo. Yo creo que he aprendido un montón con sus demostraciones y con las observaciones y repasos que nos hacia.

Ahora solo queda practicar todos los días, y yo espero que a lo largo de este año, pueda mejorar poco a poco. La acuarela es difícil. Lo dicen famosos pintores que pintan en óleo y en acuarela. De modo que me tomaré con paciencia mis progresos.

Los colegas acuarelistas, y sin embargo amigos, se notaba que llevaban tiempo practicando. Podéis ver el blog de Juan Valdivia, otros están dispuestos a comenzar un blog, que espero pronto seguir. La excepción es Patricia Castelao, solo lleva dos meses haciendo acuarelas. Aquí está un retrato que hizo a otra colega para que veáis de lo que es capaz de hacer.

Still remain in my retina images of Caminha's watercolor workshop. Francisco Castro performed several​​ demos that made us believe that the watercolor is a simple technique, due the simplicity with it was executed his work. I was disconcerted as he got the harmony of colors and its accurate value, with no apparent effort. I think I learned a lot with his shows and the comments and reviews that made us.
Now, I have to practice every day, and I hope that throughout this year I'll improve gradually. Watercolor is difficult. Acording famous painters who paint in oils and watercolor. So patiently, I'll try getting on with my works.
My colleagues watercolor, but yet friends, had long that were practicing. You can see the blog of Juan Valdivia, and others are willing to start a blog, which I expect it soon .

The exception is Patricia Castelao, only takes two months doing watercolors. Here is a portrait that made to another colleague, you can see what is capable of.

Paisaje/ Landscape

Este paisaje pertenece a la Ribera Sacra. Lo pinté de una foto que hice allí.

This landscape belongs to Ribeira Sacra. I painted it from a picture I took there.

Rosa/Rose

 Como se puede ver esta acuarela es ccompletamente diferente de la última. He pintado esta rosa con un estilo realista o por lo menos quiere serlo. Espero que ahora comprenderá porque se llama este blog "estilos diferentes".
Más adelante podrá también ver porque es" acrílico". ¡Qué emocionante!, Ja,Ja..


As you can see this watercolor is completely different from last one. I painted the rose with realist style, or at least wants to be. Now you are going to understand why this blog is called "differents styles".

Paisaje urbano 5/ Cityscape No. 5

Considero este paisaje como uno urbano. Hay muchos edificios que traté de pintar. He descubierto la importancia de simplificar los edificios muchas ventanitas distraen al espectador. Creo que probablemente hubiera sido mejor pintar solamente las formas de las casas y sugerir levemente las ventanas.
Mi siguiente paisaje urbano será más sencillo. Por cierto, necesito pintar 15 mas

I consider this landscape as a cityscape. There are many buildings that I tried to paint. I've discovered the importance of simplifying the buildings, many small windows distract to viewer. I think probably it would have be better only to paint the shapes of buildings and suggesting slightly windows.
My next cityscape will be more simple. By the way, I need to paint 15 more

Bodegón con frutas/ Sill life with fruits

 Esta acuarela es algo realista comparado con mis anteriores. La pinté para variar un poco.
Creo que es un buen ejemplo de la globalización, tal como alguien me enseño. La pinte en papel Francés Arches con acuarelas de Alemania, Holanda e Italia. Las frutas son granadas de la India y peras de Argentina. Hice la foto con una cámara digital Japonesa y ahora la estoy enviando por Internet, que finalmente es el mejor ejemplo de globalización.

I am not used to paint realistic watercolors. I painted this for changing a bit but really it is not too much realistic, only compared to earlier.
I think, such as someone explained me, my painting can be a good example of globalization. I painted on Arches, a watercolor paper French, using paints of German, Holland and Italian. The fruits are India granades, and pears from Argentina. I took my photo with a digital camera Japanese and now I'm sending it on Internet, which is finally the best example of globalization

Paisaje urbano nº 4/ Cityscape 4

Llevo tiempo tratando de pintar paisajes urbanos, después de tremendas reflexiones he llegado a la conclusión de que se necesita pintar 20 paisajes para obtener buenos resultados. Creo que este es el número cuatro. Voy a esperar a conseguir ese número mágico, mientras seguiré contando.

I've been trying to paint cityscapes since long, after deep thoughts I arrived to the final conclusion that is painting  20 cityscapes, what is need to get good results. I think this is the four, I'll wait to get for that magic number, meanwhile I'll keep counting.

Calatañazor

En el siglo VIII los musulmanes dominaban en España, y fue en Calatañazor, donde dicen que en 1002 se libró una batalla contra el caudillo árabe Almanzor. En aquellos tiempos se dedicaban a causar estragos contra la población cristiana y fue en Calatañazor donde este general fue derrotado. La tradición por eso dice, que “en Calatañazor Almanzor perdió el tambor”. Hoy es un pueblo medieval que conserva los restos de un castillo y una muralla que ha ido declarado conjunto histórico artístico.

Nota: cuando diga como he realizado una acuarela y me refiera al estado de humedad del papel, usaré los siguientes terminos, empleados también de forma parecida por otros autores de los que he tomado su información:
Papel empapado, brillante, satinado, húmedo, semiseco y seco. Estos son los diferentes estados por los que pasa el papel cuando se le añade mucha agua hasta que queda seco. Los pinceles también pueden contener la pintura con tres niveles de dilución:
espesa, cremosa y muy diluida.
Yo los tejados en esta acuarela los he pintado siguiendo estos pasos:

1. Sobre papel seco pongo naranja dejando espacios en blanco.
   
2. Sobre húmedo rojo y naranja. A continuación también sobre húmedo azul y sepia
   
3. En las tejas pincel seco (pintura espesa) sobre húmedo con colores siena tostada y sepia.
   

Si al seguir mis indicaciones os queda mal, es culpa vuestra. Si os queda mejor que a mi, es mérito mío. ¡ Es broma !.Ya me contareis vuestro resultado


In the eighth century Muslims ruled Spain, and  it was in Calatañazor, where it said that in 1002 a battle was fought against the Arab leader Al-Mansur. In those days they were devoted to wreak havoc against the Christian population and it was in Calatañazor, where the general was defeated. The tradition says that "in Calatañazor Almanzor lost the drum." Today is a medieval town that has been declared historical artistic, by conserving the remains of a castle and its rampart.

Note about my watercolors's explanations: When I explain how I made a watercolor and on the state of moisture in paper, I'll use the following terms. They are similar to ones that is been used by other authors from whom I have taken your information.
Paper soaked, shiny, glossy, wet, semidry and dry. These are the states by passing the paper when you add lots of water until it is dry. The brushes may also contain paint with three levels of dilution: thick, creamy and very diluted.
 I painted the houses's roof, following this steps:
1. I put orange on dry paper, leaving blank spaces. .
2. Red and orange on wet paper, then also blue and sepia on wet.
3. On wet, into the shingles dry brush(thick paint) with colors burnt sienna and sepia. 
If you follow my instructions and you get it wrong is your fault. If you still get it better than mine is my merit . Just kidding!.
