Paisaje urbano/ Cityscape

He tratado de pintar una mañana cálida de verano de una ciudad costera, donde pasé algunos días.
Los edificios del fondo tienen una ligera neblina como es normal en Galicia.
Comencé con un lavado muy claro en el papel de Azul cerúleo y Siena natural en el cielo y seguí hacía abajo hasta el suelo y el mar. Luego cambié los colores con azul y magenta, y naranja, con cuidado de reservar papel blanco para la gente y los coches.
Por último, después de que se seco el papel, pinté los edificios con algunas zonas en húmedo sobre húmedo y otras en seco, los coches la gente del primer plano y otra que estaba más lejos. Finalmente, puse a la derecha del primer plano algunas formas pequeñas que representaban sombrillas

I tried to paint a warm summer morning from a coast town where I had spent some days.

The background buildings show a light mist which is very usual in Galicia. 

I started with a very light wash of Blue Cerulean and Raw Sienna on the side of sky and I kept descending until sea and the street. Then I changed of colors using blue with magenta, and orange, taking care to reserve white paper for people and cars.

Finally, after the paper was completely dry, I painted the  buildings with some areas wet into wet and others on dry, the cars, people in foreground and other ones who were farther .By last, I did  some little shapes depicting umbrellas on the beach, on the right hand of the foreground,.

Pinté el cielo con tres colores, azul cerúleo, siena natural y magenta con una mezcla muy clara, luego seguí con el terreno con naranja, verde vejiga y siena natural.
Cuando todo estaba seco pinté los árboles, la cabaña y el primer plano con cores más espesos.

I did the sky with three colors, cerulean blue raw sienna and magenta using a very clear mix, then I continued with the ground with orange, sap green, and raw sienna. When all was dry I painted the trees, the cottage and the foreground with colors more thick.

Retrato/ Portrait

Empecé este retrato con lo que yo denomino "técnica del chorretón controlado". Puse en el lado izquierdo del retrato un chorretón de winsor red que inmediatamente lo mezclé encima con otro de color naranja y después otro en la mitad, de azul cerúleo para conseguir colores más oscuros.
Hice lo mismo con el resto de la pintura de la cara. Cuando se secó, pinté los rasgos con colores más oscuros. Así que empecé con colores oscuros en vez de con un lavado claro, que es la forma habitual.
Por cierto, que los tres que están en la parte inferior son incontrolados y no tienen nada que ver con los anteriores.

I started this portrait with what I denominate "technique of controlled splash". I put on the left side of the portrait a splash running from the top to bottom with winsor red and immediately mixed with other orange color and then finally mixed with cerulean blue on the middle.
I did the same with the rest of the face. When it was dry I painted the features with more dark colors. So that my first colores were dark instead of clear colors as in the usual way.
By the way, the three splash to the bottom are uncontrolled they don't have nothing to do with the earlier ones.

Retrato/ Portrait

He vuelto con más retratos. Creo que necesito pintar unos cincuenta más. Resisando mis retratos he pintado unos treinta más o menos.
Voy a pintar otros temas para no aburrirme demasiado.
He utilizado el mismo método que en mi último post de retratos, El mezclar los colores en el papel es más complicado que en la paleta pero se obtienen colores más interesantes.
Lo pinte  a partir de una foto en blanco y negro.

I've come back with more portraits. I think I will need to paint fifty portraits more to get better quality. Reviewing my portraits I'll have painted thirty portraits more or less.
I have to paint other subjects  to vary something and I not get bored too.
I've used the same colors and method than my last post about portraits. Mixing colors on paper is more difficult than on palette but you can obtain interesting colors.
I did this portrait from one black and white photo.

Marina/Seascape

Hace tiempo que no pinto paisajes porque estoy ocupado con los retratos, así que  creo que esta acuarela no la había mostrado antes.
No recuerdo como la hice pero seguramente con mucho cuidado porque es una hoja tamaño Imperial(56x76cm.)

Time ago that I don't paint some landscape, because I'm very busy, painting portraits, so that I think that had never showed this painting.
I don't remember how I did, but securely with much care because is one sheet Imperial size(30 x 22'')

Retrato / Portrait

Mientras pintaba recordé un comentario que leí sobre retratos en un for de acuarela. Decia que era más facil pintar ancianos que gente joven y el autor sugería que era conveniente pintar a los ancianos con colores pálidos para indicar la proximidad de la muerte. No se si estaba bromeando o no, pero el resto de lo que decía parecía correcto.
Pinte un lavado claro y puse algunes colores oscuros en húmedo. Después cuando estaba seco, puse las sombras mezclando los colores eb el papel en vez de en la paleta.

While I was painting I remembered a comment I read about portraits in a watercolor forum. It said that painting old people is easier than ones young and the author suggested that was convenient to paint old people with pale colors, because you can indicate the proximrity of his dead. I don't know if he was kidding or not, but everything he said seemed right.
I painted a light wash with some dark colors on wet. Then ,when it was dry I started the shadows, blending the colors on the paper instead of on the palette.

Paisaje/ Landscape

Esta obra es una demostración de que no hay reglas estrictas en la acuarela. Empecé pintando el cielo y rápidamente puse una parte del árbol en húmedo sobre húmedo para conseguir bordes suaves, después hice el suelo.
Cuando todo estaba seco, puse los troncos de los árboles, las sombras sobre el suelo y finalmente el agua y la costa.
Es decir, he pintado parcialmente cada zona del cuadro en vez de por etapas sucesivas

This work is a demonstration that there isn't rules strict on watercolor. I started painting the sky and  put quickly one portion of the tree on wet to obtain soft edges. I did  wet on wet the foliage of the trees, later the ground. When all was dry, I put the tree trunks, the shadows on the ground and finally the water and coast.
That is, I painted partially each piece of the picture rather than by successive phases.
